Village Newsletter: September 2021

Date: 1st Sep 2021 Author: Ciarán Carr

As some of you will have noticed progress has been good with the construction of the foundations for our new modular HQ building. Thank you to all the walkers, and their dogs, that have stopped for a chat and wished us good luck with the project. The arrival of the building has been delayed and we still have plenty to do but we hope delivery is on the horizon.

Beavers and Cubs joined together at the end of term for a mass Investiture Ceremony. Six new Cubs and twelve new Beavers and four new Leaders were invested into the Scout Group, two Leaders were invested into changed roles and a Leader was awarded a Chief Scout’s Commendation in a ceremony attended by District Commissioner Steve Martin. The evening finished with individual family picnics in the sunshine.

Our Monday Beavers Colony and Cub Pack now are at full capacity so from September we are reopening the other Pack and Colony. They will meet on Wednesday evenings, please see the poster below for details of these two sections and our other sections that have spare capacity, or contact the number at the end of this piece.

Adventurers Scouts had an evening in Southwold solving some beach based challenges and finished the term with a chip supper.

Pioneer Scouts, continuing their theme of challenges, worked in pairs and had a camp cooking evening, cooking bacon, eggs, beans, hash browns and toast on open fires for a supper time breakfast followed by washing up and hot chocolate.

Explorers finished the term with some tidying at the new site and a barbeque.

It seems like we all wound up the term with a food theme!

Scouting provides a second family to lots of young people. It’s a safe place where they can aspire and grow.'
