At the time of writing our modular building is scheduled for delivery in September. We hope to have the building installed by the time you read this. October will be spent putting the finishing touches in place and completing the outside works. There should be a functioning building by the end of October.
Thank you to everyone that has helped us over many years, in whatever way, with this project, every member of 1st Fressingfield Scout Group is very grateful for the support, encouragement and cooperation.
We would also like to thank the Trustees of the Goodwin Hall for their continued support for the Fressingfield Scout Group over many years during our long history and association with their Hall.
We have not managed to have a Summer Camp this year because of the restrictions still in place from the pandemic, most sections have closed down for the summer however on one warm August day 6 older Scouts, and two Leaders, from Pioneer Troop navigated on footpaths from Fressingfield to Hoxne by a circuitous route and covered 13 miles. There were a few sore feet and some nettle stings but, more important, a huge sense of achievement. A few days later 5 members from the whole Troop had an activity day in Hoxne. They built a bridge over the Goldbrook, went on an Incident Hike then practiced their air rifle shooting, constructed a camp oven and lit a fire then cooked an apple crumble and custard and a pasta bolognese all from ingredients rather than a packet. Finishing off with a campfire and drink. Thank you to the landowners that let us use their land.
Thank you to everyone that has continued to save and donate crisp packets to our appeal. An awful lot of crisp packets have been sent for recycling and we have earned around £400 which will go towards the purchase of kayaks made from recycled plastic. Please continue to collect and hand to any member or leave at the village shop.
The Leaders are busy planning section programmes for the coming term and looking forward to using our new building.
