Scouting continues in a blended way at 1st Fressingfield Scout Group (virtual on Zoom and face to face in small groups outside).

Scouts have had a martial arts session with fencing, a scavenger hunt on a very rainy and dark evening as well as Zoom sessions talking about fundraising and a Zoom games evening. We will hold Zoom meetings on planning the programme, linking up with other Troops and outdoor sessions carving pumpkins and after dark photography.

Explorers had a rainy archery session and plan a night navigation hike and a Saturday cycle ride together with Zoom sessions focussing around remembrance and initial planning for their next (Easter 2022) trip to Mothers’ Mercy Orphanage in Kenya.

Cubs Face to Face activities hope to include games with pebbles, an egg drop challenge (that could be messy!) and fire lighting and cooking. There are so many Cubs that there will be two sessions for each activity. Their Zooms have involved code cracking and virtual visits to many different countries. The Beavers are not yet meeting physically but have similar Zooms to the Cubs.

Thank you to everyone that is saving empty crisp packets for us, there have been several “deposits” at the Goodwin Hall which we are grateful for. We now have a large heap to send off again and we will soon have an update on how the fund is progressing towards a new kayak

We have recently launched a CrowdFunder campaign, www.crowdfunder.co.uk/new-hq to top up the New Headquarter fundraising. Please help us if you can by: donating, commenting to show we have community support, or just by sharing. If you would like further information please contact scouts@ciarancarr.co.uk

Scouting provides a second family to lots of young people. It’s a safe place where they can aspire and grow.'
