Our Crisp Packet collection initiative is going well and we have collected enough to be paid 20% of what we need to get a great new Kayak made from recycled plastic. Thank you to everyone who has supported us with this.

The network of collection points is growing, and now includes Goodwin Hall and the Mace shop in Fressingfield, Stradbroke Community Centre, Stradbroke Fitness Centre (the Swimming Pool), Syleham and Wingfield Village Hall, Wilby Primary School, The Carrot Shed in Weybread (IP21 5TR) and to Michael at Daganya Farm, IP21 5BB Hoxne which will all accept empty crisp packets for us.

We are extremely grateful to the Fressingfield Social Club for free hosting of our Ninja Beaver Colony on Monday evenings during the darkest winter months when it is very difficult using the Goodwin Hall for our youngest members because of the poor heating and outside toilet.

The various section Leader Teams have been busy planning evening sessions and outdoor activities for the New Year. We try to get the Young People involved by running short activities where they give us feedback on what they have been doing over the recent months and they suggest things that they would like to try, which we then do our best to accommodate. We have badge work, cooking, team building, short hikes, games sessions, personal development, cooking, challenge evenings, skills training and equipment checking until Easter. Also camps, camp cooking sessions, expeditions, joint activities with other sections, community litter picking, climbing, all being planned for later in the term and during the Easter break. The Pioneer Scout Troop and Tiger Cub Pack are planning on running a Pop Up Pancake Café on Shrove Tuesday, 25th February. Goodwin Hall Fressingfield 7.30 to 8.30 pm. Please come if you haven’t had enough pancakes!

Having received a grant towards the purchase of Mountain Bikes and training for Instructors we will soon be able to take our young people cycling, both off road and for cycling proficiency.

We are on the lookout for more leaders. Do you fancy joining the fun? Could you pass on your experiences, knowledge or enthusiasm to the younger generation? It is very rewarding and we also have fun.

Scouting provides a second family to lots of young people. It’s a safe place where they can aspire and grow.'
