Installation of New HQ Building

Date: 28th Jun 2021 Author: Ciarán Carr

28th June

Dear Neighbours,

Installation of HQ building, car park and associated utilities

As you may have noticed we have today started the major phase of installing the new HQ building, car park and associated utilities onto our new Priory Road Scout HQ. This marks a really important stage in our long campaign to provide safe, secure facilities for the children and young people who make up the Scout Group.

We are committed to being good neighbours and hope to keep any disruption to you to an absolute minimum, we have briefed our contractors about our expectations. It will be necessary to use Priory Road for some movement of traffic/deliveries but where ever possible we will access the site across the field from Carpenters Yard corner.

In the next few days there will be a digger on site undertaking some excavations and there will be some aggregate deliveries. In mid to late July we expect that our building, which is a modular structure will be delivered by low loaders to the site. There will also be a crane on site for a couple of days, moving the sections into place. When I have a firm delivery date I will advise a few days in advance as it will be necessary to keep Priory Road clear of obstructions to ensure a speedy delivery, ensuring that disruption to you is kept to the absolute minimum.

As you will expect I have kept all the relevant bodies informed of our progress and have taken the necessary direction and advice to ensure that we are fully compliant.

Once the building has been installed we will have contractors on site for up to two weeks, refurbishing the inside of the building, connecting services etc. The final part of this stage is to further add to the soft landscaping of the site, including planting a small orchard at the front of the building. We hope that all works will be complete by August, although this will be dependent on various factors that are outside our control.

I sincerely hope that that everything will run smoothly and you will hardly notice the works going on, I have been heartened by the considerable local support for the Scout Group and understanding regarding our development. Thank you in advance for your patience during the next few weeks. Updates will be posted on our website and I will write to you again as the project develops.
