Thank you for volunteering with 1st Fressingfield!
So what next…?
As you join the ‘Fressingfield Family’, we want to make sure all our volunteers are prepared and know what to expect 🙂
Fressingfield Scout Group is part of the Southern Norfolk District. The group is made up of Beaver Colonies, Cub Packs, Scout Troops and an Explorer Unit. We also have two school contingents who offer Scouting during school times (you can read more about this here). We are also supported by an effective Executive Committee who ensure funds and manage governance. For more information about the Group, please visit our About Page.
The Organisational Chart below highlights our Section Leaders, our Executive Members and any specialist roles we have in the group. If you have a skill/interest you wish to share please get in touch – we would love to benefit from your expertise.
There are several training modules which can be completed – but don’t worry, they don’t have to be completed on day one! However, there are four modules which do need to be completed as soon as possible. These are Safety, Safeguarding, GDPR and Essential Information. If you are joining as a Trustee, or a Section Leader there is an additional mandatory module to complete. More information can be found in the link below.
All training records are stored on a platform called “Compass”. If you are unaware of any login, please contact our GSL Andrew, for an account to be created. Compass is like a “Leaders Database” which stores your personal information, training records, and any permits you may have. Compass is useful in seeing which modules you have, or have not yet completed. Some of these modules can be completed online (E-Learning) and can take as little as 10 minutes, or up to 45 minutes. Once you have completed an online module, please ensure you save or print the certificate and email/send this to the GSL Andrew (firstname.lastname@example.org).
There are around 20 modules in total, and if all are completed (along with a couple of other requirements) you will be awarded your Wood Beads.
Online Scout Manager
If you are a Section Leader (SL) or Assistant Section Leader (ASL), you should have access to Online Scout Manager (OSM). OSM is where we store the personal and contact details of our Scouts. If you have not been given access and you think you should, please contact your Section Leader, or the GSL Andrew (email@example.com).
We are currently building up an online repository of relevant documents/forms which are commonly used by the leaders. Please visit our “Leaders Area” to access this. If you need the password, please speak with your section leader, or email the webmaster Ciarán (firstname.lastname@example.org). If you have any requests for content for the Leaders Area (or any page), please also email Ciarán.
