We Raised £575!

We were an official collecting agent for crisp packets and raised the funds to purchase a recycled kayak.

1st Fressingfield Scout Group’s Campaign to Recycle Crisp Packets

Closure of the Crisp Packet Recycling Scheme

First of all, the Fressingfield Scout group would like to thank everyone for your support in our recycling and fundraising initiative. Thanks to you, we have been able to send quite literally one tonne of empty crisp packets for recycling and this has raised £575 for the Scouts group to date. This is an amazing achievement, which we, as a community, can be very proud of.

Walkers has now decided to close the scheme, in light of the widespread availability of collection points outside of their scheme. Please take a moment to find where you can drop off your empty packets going forward and continue with the recycling effort.

That said, the scheme remains open for another month or so and Terracycle will give us an extra bonus donation based on what we have collected, so now is the time for a final push. Please make sure you bring your packets to your usual collection point by Monday 18 April.

Until then, you can drop off your crisp packets at the Fressingfield Scouts HQ, at the Mace shop in Fressingfield or at the Carrot Shed in Weybread.

Please note that we cannot collect popcorn bags, crisp tubes (Pringles), pretzel bags or meat snack bags.

Since June 2019 we have:

  • Raised £575
  • Sent ~1000 kgs worth of empty crisp packets
  • Sent ~500,000 empty packets
  • Raised the funds to buy our own recycled kayak (pictured below)
