The 0.8 of an acre of gifted land has recently legally passed into the ownership of the Scout Group and we are very much looking forward to developing the site over the coming years.
Raising close to £400k (£250k for the building and the rest for infrastructure and outdoor facilities) to complete a new Headquarters building and site facilities is going to be tough.
The site is completely bare, there are no services connected, the surface is uneven and overgrown, and it is unfenced.
We have already spent £XZXZX on such things as planning applications, architects, archaeological surveys and solicitors. The best quote for the fencing is £15k and that is more than we have in our coffers at present.
All these funds have been raised either by fund raising events or from members’ subscriptions (boosted by Gift Aid).
Now that we have something tangible in the form of a site and that our existing, rented, facilities at the Goodwin Hall are becoming increasingly dilapidated we must raise some serious funds to move the project forward.
Whilst the surplus from members’ subscriptions after covering our monthly overheads will continue to flow in and fund raising events will take place jumble sales, quizzes, raffles and car washing sessions will only fund a very small proportion of the expenditure.
We shall be working on grant applications ???????
